Nihar Shah

Presidential Director

Nihar Shah is the Presidential Director of the Global Cooling Efficiency Program at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, leading research on alternate refrigerants and energy efficiency for HVAC and refrigeration equipment. He also co-leads the Emerging Economies Program at Berkeley Lab. He regularly advises multilateral institutions, governments, industry, and regulators on energy technologies and policies.  He is a licensed mechanical engineer, with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
