Randi Stipes is the Chief Marketing Officer of IBM Watson Media and Weather and Developer Marketing. In her role, she takes an agile, data-driven approach to deliver measurable results for customers across The Weather Company, Watson Advertising and the Developer ecosystem at IBM. As Chief Marketing Officer, Stipes is passionate about marketing transformation, having helped build The Weather Channel into the world’s most downloaded weather app, evolve Watson Advertising from a publisher to an AI-driven ecosystem, and devise solutions that help consumers and brands confidently leverage data and technology to make more informed decisions and create a more authentic value exchange. Stipes is equally dedicated to finding ways to use technology to propel our planet. She launched Forecast: Change, an award-winning, cross-IBM initiative that highlights the link between climate change and global freshwater water scarcity while compelling communities to take action. She’s now applying her creativity to help lead developer marketing for IBM, which includes initiatives such as Call for Code, which inspires the global developer community and problem solvers to use technology to solve societal challenges. Stipes’ product management and editorial background have given her a unique, customer-first perspective, allowing her to authentically connect advertisers to relevant solutions. She helped conceive and launch the industry’s first AI advertising solution – Watson Ads – and has spearheaded numerous award-winning digital and cross-platform campaigns for blue-chip brands like Disney, The Home Depot, Toyota, State Farm, Procter & Gamble, GSK and others. Previously, Stipes served as managing editor for UPS.com where she helped re-launch and scale the company’s digital presence. She has held numerous other positions – all focused on helping traditional media and publishing companies lean into the digital era.
