Hybrid HVAC-thermal energy storage system
NETenergy hybrid thermal energy storage (TES) rooftop unit (RTU) air conditioner consists of a refrigeration circuit that charges a phase change material (PCM) directly with the evaporating refrigerant. A second circuit rejects heat from a cooling coil using a glycol circuit with a pump. NETenergy’s hybrid system can serve as a flexible resource to shave/shift on-peak air conditioning load, improve efficiency, and dynamically charge or discharge in response to expected grid operating levels.
