Ultrasound system that connects to a mobile device
Butterfly Network’s Butterfly iQ is a whole-body, single-probe ultrasound system that connects to a mobile device. Low-cost, portable, and radiation free, Butterfly iQ provides diagnostic imaging across 13 clinical indications which span the whole body. It offers lung ultrasound to identify pulmonary complications in suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patients and helps risk stratify those for admission or closer observation. Access Afya, a low-cost primary healthcare provider with micro-clinics serving Kenyans in informal settlements, is piloting Butterfly iQ in eight of its clinics, coupled with teleguidance functionality, to increase access to ultrasound services, improve detection of COVID-19, and support antenatal care patients in informal settlements.
